Lifting Minorities®

Lifting Minorities® is committed to elevating students of color, with a special focus on Black students, academically and professionally.  We believe that higher education degrees directly impact the quality of life for graduates. Research suggests that Bachelor’s degree recipients earn, on average, $1 million more over their lifetimes than high school graduates.

Therefore, Lifting Minorities is incredibly excited to propel students of color into higher education and the workforce. We empower financially constrained college-bound, high school students of color by providing scholarships.  We also partner with high school and current college students of color to provide professional development, mentorship, and financial literacy to aid their transition into the workforce.

Lifting Minorities® is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our EIN is 87-1278358. Donate now and change a student's life today. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please retain the donation receipt that you receive via email as your official record.

Congrats to our first
Lee A. Murphy Jr.
Legacy Scholarship Fund recipient!

June 22, 2024

Lifting Minorities is incredibly excited to announce Brooklyn Williams as the inaugural recipient of the Lee A. Murphy Jr. Legacy Scholarship Fund. Brooklyn is a graduate of The Potomac School in McLean, VA, and is off to pursue a degree in Computer Science at the University of Virginia. Congratulations, Brooklyn!

When our founder started his nonprofit journey, he thought, "If he could just help one student". Brooklyn is our nonprofit's fourth scholarship recipient and Lifting Minorities has now awarded over $50,000 to students in just two years.

Thank you to our board of directors for working through a rigorous assessment process and to our donors who continue to make these moments extra special.
